1. Lawang Sewu

Lawang Sewu- An Iconic Landmark in Semarang

Lawang Sewu is undoubtedly one of Semarang's most iconic tourist destinations. This historical building was once the headquarters of the Dutch East Indies Railway Company and later served as the office of the Indonesian Railway Company and the Military Command Infrastructure Agency. Today, Lawang Sewu has been revitalized and conserved into a museum and tourist site.

Famed for its many doors, hence the name Lawang Sewu (Thousand Doors), it is a must-visit when in Semarang. Although the name suggests a thousand doors, the actual number is less, which you can verify on your visit! Situated on Jalan Pemuda, close to Simpang Lima, the heart of Semarang, Lawang Sewu is a staple for first-time visitors.

2. Saloka Theme Park

Saloka Theme Park Central Java’s Largest Amusement Park 

Saloka Theme Park, located in Kabupaten Semarang, about an hour by car from Semarang City, is Central Java's largest amusement park. Close to Lake Rawa Pening, it features a variety of rides from child-friendly to extreme ones like Bengak Bengok and Paku Bumi.

Saloka Park is divided into five themed areas, and offers beautiful views of Rawa Pening from several high rides. Due to its distance from the city center, combining a visit to Rawa Pening on the same day is recommended.
